Maanit Zemel is the Founding Partner of Zemel van Kampen LLP, a boutique Technology and Litigation Law Firm in Toronto.
Maanit has over 15 years of experience in Internet law and commercial litigation, with particular expertise in Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), online defamation, privacy and data security. She is the sole Canadian member of the Internet Law Leadership Summit, an international organization of leading lawyers with expertise in Internet law.
Maanit has successfully represented clients before all levels of courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Maanit’s extensive litigation experience earned her a position as (former) Member of the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board, where she adjudicated disputes between residential landlords and tenants.
Maanit also teaches business law, Internet law and International law at the University of Toronto and Ryerson University. Prior to founding Zemel van Kampen, Maanit was a Partner at a leading National law firm on Bay Street in Toronto, Ontario and, prior to that, she was an Associate at a leading International law firm on Wall Street in New York, USA.
Nitsan led privacy and compliance programs in a large global organization for 8 years and worked as a privacy consultant here in the GTA during the last year.
He started his career as a Training Specialist 25 years ago, after which he became specialized in IT, utilizing his project management skills from training to IT.
In the past eight years, he found a great interest in the rapidly developing privacy domain, which he strongly believes is only the beginning of a new era, challenges, and opportunities.
